HAMILTON, ON - AIFC U15 Girls participated in the McMaster Sparta Outdoor Tournament (U15/U16 division) to kick off the outdoor season and the girls definitely left their mark.

The girls faced 3 competitive teams in the preliminaries. On Saturday, the weather and extreme wind played its part on the field, but the girls continued to give it their all. At the end of the day, the girls finished with a record of 2 wins and 1 loss, securing their way as the only U15 team to qualify for the semi-final match against Barrie.

They displayed impressive skill and determination, and the keeper remained sharp and on her toes throughout. The girls came out with an exciting 4-1 win and made their way into the extraordinary Ron Joyce Stadium to rest and warm up for their 5th and final match against the Hamilton Sparta Warriors U16 team.

Battling fatigue and recovering from the previous games, the girls found it within themselves to seriously compete in this final match. They played a hard and intense game together as one flowing unit. The pressure was high. It was outstanding to see the level of effort, support, and the encouragement on and off the field. The result of the Final ended in a 0-2 loss, and the U15 Girls stand proud as the 2nd place medalists of the weekend. AIFC cannot be more proud.

Coach Christos put it best. “We come home with the Silver in standings but stand proud with Gold in our hearts.”

AIFC U15 Girls are back at it again next weekend at the Danny Pellegrini Classic Tournament.
